RAS has once again partnered with the United Way to offer a Freedom Schools summer reading program this year!

Freedom Schools provide a 5-week, safe, nurturing summer environment where scholars are valued, celebrated, and given opportunities to learn the pleasure of reading. Scholars improve their ability to read, connect to their culture, develop positive relationships with Servant Leader Interns (College Students), increase their self-esteem, and develop a positive attitude toward academic achievement. Additionally, scholars participate in community service and social action projects.

The Richard Allen Schools are public community schools that participate in state-wide assessment (including the Ohio Achievement Assessments).  The Schools uphold compulsory attendance requirements for all students, as required by law.

Parents may request information regarding the professional qualifications of their students' teachers by writing or emailing the principal. For a complete faculty roster that lists where faculty completed their collegiate studies and the undergraduate or graduate degrees held, click on the Richard Allen Schools District Site link in the Resources section on the homepage.

From the Principal

Spring is here and excitement is in the air as we continue to have a wonderful year of learning here at Richard Allen. As always, we greatly appreciate the combined efforts of all as we supported our students in successfully meeting the highest attendance record building wide during Terra Nova testing.

As we enter the month of April, our teachers and staff continue to introduce and review rigorous academic skills and content across all grade levels. With roughly 2 weeks remaining before our Ohio End of Year testing weeks, it is imperative that our students are present each day and eager to actively participate in applying the purposeful teaching and learning taking place.

With the end of the school year quickly approaching, we want to thank each of you for your ongoing support of our students, our teachers and staff, and our mission here at Richard Allen. This year has been a success due to the collective efforts of all in providing opportunities for our students to succeed and grow.

Ms. Kerley
